How Times Have Changed...

Today I went to collect my nephew from preschool and while standing there waiting on the van and taking sand out of his hair, -_-, three guys pass by, checking me out. One guys says "Shorty(some things stay the same, smh), that's your only one?" I don't like to be blatantly rude so I turn to say no, he's not mine. He heard no, and was like "That's nice man..." and continues checking me out. O_o. Once upon a time the sight of any woman walking with a child was enough to send men running to the hills. As for if you're pregnant, watch out!! smh. All of this made me start thinking about how things have changed.

There are only 6 days till Independence Day here in Barbados, November 30th. On the radio, the T.V, in the newspapers and on FB, everyone is feeling it this year and I just LOVE IT!!

Normally, every year I'm the only one who gets super excited when Independence rolls around. When people play Christmas music during November it irks me to no end but this year, however, I'm more mellow. I'm still really excited, but everyone is talking about the things of days gone by...

The things we used to wear...new patent leather shoes to church and the sun so hot your toes boiling inside them...

The things we used to eat..."Dead Man Flesh"(not what you think! lol) and monkey tamarind...

The things we used to play...running 'bout outside for the entire day and playing Chinese Skip...

And as this is mostly a hair blog, the hairstyles we used to rock...
I am just.too.fly. Fuh real...(lol) I don't need you guys to tell me, I know! More on this in another post though.

What do you remember from your childhood days? You don't have to be Barbadian to reminisce. Drop a comment below to share your memories. I know you guys are the strong, silent types but you can tune in too, :-).

Update

Hey everyone.

Before I get started I just want to thank everyone who takes the time to read my blog, It means alot to me that someone's willing to spend a couple minutes out of their day to check out what I have to say. To those of you who leave comments (especially on the blog post itself), an even bigger THANK YOU because feedback is always a really nice thing to have. Thank you guys.

So, this update is going to be on my life and trials, with my head of course :-)

First thing, I got a job! *and the crowd goes absolutely crazy!!!* Thanks to all of you who sent up a prayer for me. Things aren't easy nowadays, especially with the absolute, AWESOME job that our current administration is doing (you can stick that sarcasm with a fork, can't you). I'm not making alot but I'm grateful for what I am getting.

Second thing, last month I flat ironed my hair and I have a status update on my hair coming up as well as a video. It's taking a while because I have to go through the audio I took while the stylist was doing my hair so I can give you a transcript of the interview I did for you guys aaand because of the video. I'm very tech savvy but putting myself out there is very daunting for me.

I've three product reviews coming up. I might do those on video because I haven't seen any reviews on Youtube that I like for two of the products -_- Simple really. I see no reason to do product reviews that a hundred other persons have already done. The products are: Taliah Waajid's Curly Curl Cream and  Protective Mist Bodifier and the Hollywood Beauty Hydrating Hair Mask enriched with Argan Oil. I absolutely LOVE the latter!!!! OMGosh! As soon as I buy a Firewire for my camcorder I'll get started.

ummm...anything else....Oh Yeah!!! I've joined the dance ministry at my church as an Administrative Secretary!! This is really exciting for me because I've been waiting on God to let me know what to do so I'm really happy to have a direction. As for everything else in my life, I'm taking a back seat. I have no idea what I'm doing so i'm letting God take over. Sounds good right? I know man.

I love you, thanks for reading, leave a comment and follow me! Every comment I read encourages me to do better. Alrighty, CIAO!

Love,
Lee ♥♥♥.

Daily Dose of D

Ello.

Not too long ago, around 9pm, I was sitting on the floor with D. He was playing with his car and I was reapplying the 'ifyouevenlandonmynephewyoudead' spray :-). I said to my little darling, "D, it's bed time."
That child systematically avoided looking me in the face as he proceed to tell me "Not yet."
Not yet?! Where he get this from?! Who taught him that?!? I could only look at him with my mouth open. Then I hadtuh laugh cuz he ain' right! LOL

Child got too much sense for my own good yuh, nuh lie.

Everyday He Wants To Get In

Hello Beautiful People! It is a beautiful day! The sun is shining, birds are singing and the wind is blowing strong.

This early morning post comes to you complements of Super D, my amazingly hadsome nephew. You've already seen him if you read my posts. Recently, I've been contemplating putting up D's Daily Doings(corny, i know, don' mind that, lol). He does things to make me laugh every single day and things to amaze me almost as often and I thought to share my little blessing with you.

Since returning from Miami last week on the 3rd, D has come to my bedroom knocking on the door every single morning, asking me to let him in. This is not special, you may say, but it is, to me. See, I love this child with all of me. I sometimes feel like he's mine and he shows a special kind of love to each person. I am his Auntie-mummy, though he refuses to call me auntie. He is truly God given, but he's also the most intelligent, stubborn, willful child I've ever seen. He does NOTHING he does not want to do on his own. There is no spoiling him here, he is made to kno who's in charge and Punishment(the belt) is never far from bad little boys.

But I digress. Everyday, he comes and knocks, waits, knocks again, says mummy, knocks again until I answer. He then proceeds to tell me to open up and let him in, at least that's what I know he's saying. I'm getting special treatment everyday! I could tell you this reminded me of what Jesus does every day. He knocks at our hearts and asks to be let in. That He wants to give us a special kind of love that only He can give. We've made the choice to either let Him in, purposely shut Him out or "roll over" and pretend we haven't heard Him knocking or calling. But what love awaits if you're obedient and if you open up!

Now I could tell you it reminded me of all that, but I'll just say that I now get special hugs and kisses every morning and when D gets home from nursery. I relate to him better and he actually hears me when I speak, for the most part, lol. What about Jesus, you ask? Oh, He hears me all the time!

Okay, so that's your first dose of D. Check back tomorrow for another!
God Bless and Much Love,
Lee.

Say cheeesse!

Daily Life: Fluffy Gets a Bath

Cuhdere!
I had to do it folks. As you can see, my handsome cat, Fluffy, is very muscular(LMAO). He can't quite reach the area directly in front of his tail on his back, resulting in flea dust. It had to go! He is the very best cat in the world and no matter how much he hates water, he never scratches me. I just love him.♥♥♥

Check out this body peoples!!! ☺ Laterz!

Love,
Lee.
